MKM Sheffield North, The Tooth Fairy & A Gorilla

When Garden Gorilla's were asked to create a small plot outside a dentist's, where they could teach their patients, and in particular children, about the wider issues of oral care. Together we decided to create two sections, the first being an instant herb garden that will be installed and planted in a single afternoon.

Next we'll be building a 3 sq.m plant bed designed at low level to give it easy access for children and wheelchair users who can't reach far. The plan is to plant up some cabbage and sprouts for the Christmas table. 

The materials were generously provided by MKM Building Supplies nearby branch so were giving a special mention to their Branch Director Dave Beach.

The story featured on the local radio and in the local press.

Thursday's launch went even better than expected and we managed to install an instant bagged allotment and about a dozen smaller tubs.

MKM Building suppliers transforms garden of lucky competition winner

We are delighted to announce that we have completed our garden transformation for Hull resident, Carole Jones. Carole recently won our landscaping competition, run in conjunction with East Yorkshire radio station Magic 1161, to win a garden make-over. Carole was treated to over £1000 of landscaping materials and consultations with one of our in-branch landscaping specialists. She was also given access to the expertise of local landscaping contractors from Hamlyn Fencing and Paving.

Carole entered the competition because she didn’t have any outside space to enjoy, as she explains:

“I’m over the moon with my new garden! I’ve been married for 27 years and haven’t taken a holiday once. I have two disabled sons and a disabled husband so it has always been difficult to maintain the garden and keep it looking nice. I’ve never really had anywhere pleasant to sit outside and wheelchair access wasn’t great.

“MKM has installed a safe wheelchair ramp so the whole family can enjoy the garden and I now have a beautiful space to spend time with family and friends. I’ve already had my first barbecue and I’m looking forward to enjoying the summer outside!”

“We were delighted to have helped Carole. Her garden needed a complete overhaul, so we started by taking it right back to its raw state. We then designed the garden according to Carole’s requirements and met with her at our Anlaby branch so she could browse our range of paving, fencing and decorative aggregates. In the end, she opted for the introduction of gravelled areas, a brand new shed and high quality, natural stone paving that will last and look great for years. Carole loves the end result and we are glad we were able to give her the use of her garden back!”
